Marzipan potatoes are usually prepared around Saint Nicholas (6 december).
The balls are rolled from ordinary marzipan, then rolled in cocoa powder.
A really yummy treat and very fun to make with the kids.
- 200 g ground almonds
- 200 g icing sugar
- 1 egg white
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
beat the egg white
mix with the ground almonds and icing sugar
roll small balls of 1 cm (1/2 incin diameter
place cocoa powder in a soup plate
roll the marzipan balls in the cocoa powder
- if the egg is small, the marzipan may be too dry. Add a small dash of water and mix again, until the proper consistency is obtained.
- if your marzipan is too wet and soggy, wrap it in aluminum foil without completely closing it: the marzipan will dry out and will get the right consistency.
