Ostrich steak with pear sauce
The ostrich steak has a distinct flavor that does not appreciate everyone. It tastes a bit like horse steak but is very tender.
Cook it just like a beef steak: start with high heat and lower the heat till to cook to desired cuisson.
- 1 ostrich steak
- 1 can pears in syrup or in juice
- 200 ml cream
- salt & pepper
Cook the ostrich steak like a steak after you have peppered and salted it
Take the meat out of the pan and set aside
Quench the pan with a portion of the pear syrup or juice
Add the cream, the rest of the pear syrup or juice, salt & pepper
If necessary, thicken the sauce with corn flour
Add the pears to the sauce and let them warm in the sauce
