Rice pudding

Delicious rice pudding like our grandmothers made it.

Another wonderful childhood memory where you fought with siblings to lick the pan. 

Rice pudding is eaten like that or with brown sugar.

Ingredients

  • 150 g round rice
  • 1 l milk 35 oz.
  • 1 pod vanilla
  • 100 g sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 knob butter

Instructions

  1. wash the rice in water
  2. melt a knob of butter in a heavy saucepan
  3. add the rice and cook for a few minutes while stirring the rice with a wooden spoon
  4. add the milk and the spliced vanilla pod
  5. cook for 30-35 minutes over low heat, stirring frequently so the rice does not stick to the bottom of the pan
  6. remove the vanilla pod
  7. add sugar, to taste
  8. pour in individual dishes and allow to cool

Recipe Notes

The sugar is added at the end in order to avoid the rice pudding from sticking and burning.
